We are so excited to host the GEG members for a tour of the Hillbrook Inn in Charles Town! This will be a semi-guided tour and guests can also walk around on their own afterwards. It will take about 1 to 2 hours.
What you will see: Our new butterfly garden, many perennials, bulb plants, mature trees and bushes, natural rock formations, Bullskin Run stream, and ponds. The walk will be in the grass, natural stone steps, pea gravel paths, some mild slopes. It may not be appropriate for a wheelchair, but walker would be OK, at least for most of it. This will not be super structured. Katie and Kelly will give a history of the property and lead guests around the perimeter pointing out various plants and finish back on the terrace. We are happy to show the inside, too. But won’t be able to enter the house until after 10:30am or so when breakfast is over. What to bring: a drink, hat, comfy sturdy shoes, sunscreen, bug spray.
We need a rough idea of how many people are coming to this tour. If you plan to come, please send Kathy an email by mid-day Thursday. (You are of course still welcome if you decide to come at the last minute.) Contact Kathy Dillon at firstname.lastname@example.org.
9:00am: Meet at school parking lot. Plant exchange.
9:30am: Greetings/introductions and tour
NOTE: In case of rain, the walk may be canceled; check the website and Facebook page.
Plant Exchange: In the parking area.
Parking: We will gather in the parking lot at South Jefferson Elementary School, 4599 Summit Point Rd, Charles Town. Look for the GEG signs. From there we will carpool to the Hillbrook Inn. Please do not use the Hillbrook Inn lot.
