Japanese Stiltgrass

Invasives and You: Louise Finch will describe the traits of invasive plants and discuss the environmental importance of controlling them. She will give examples of invasive plants in West Virginia.

Please bring a chair, a breakfast food to share, and plants to share. We will have more milkweed seeds, these from a different type of plant than those offered at the August meeting.

Directions: Coming from the Charles Town or Harpers Ferry area take 340 East and cross the Potomac River into Maryland. Take the second exit towards Hwy 67 and Boonsboro, MD. Continue on North on Hwy 67 for approximately 2 miles and turn left on Yarrowsburg Road (look for the G.E.G. sign to guide you). Go 1 mile to the stop sign and turn left onto Reed Road. Go ¾ miles and turn left into the gravel driveway just before the small weathered wooden barn on the right and at the 2 mailboxes. Look for the G.E.G. signs to guide you.

Coming from Shepherdstown, WV and surrounding area take Maryland 34 East through Sharpsburg and turn right just past Antietam creek onto Porterstown Road. Go 2.5 miles and turn right onto Mt. Briar Road at the stop sign. Follow Mt Briar Road which turns into Trego Road to Hwy 67 and turn right at the stop sign. Go approximately 2.5 miles and turn right on Yarrowsburg Road (look for the G.E.G. sign to guide you). Go 1 mile to the stop sign and turn left onto Reed Road. Go ¾ miles and turn left into the gravel driveway just before the small weathered wooden barn on the right and at the 2 mailboxes. Look for the G.E.G. signs to guide you.
