Notes May 15 — Wildflower Walk

Ferry Hill Planation

Gardeners Exchange Group: Meeting 15 May 2021
Location: Ferry Hill Plantation in Sharpsburg
Topic: Wildflower Walk

Approximately 15 people gathered at the parking lot of Ferry Hill Plantation with many plants to exchange and to participate in a spring wildflower walk. It was a brisk and beautifully sunny day! Pictures were taken and much greetings and fun with evening primrose seedlings, daylilies and irises, sedum, sorrel etc. to exchange. Attendees had the choice of a short walk down a steep but friendly wooded trail to the tow path below or a path that continued along the tow path before ascending back to the Ferry Hill parking lot. Mary Duke and Kathy Bilton* [*correction] led the two walks and pointed out spring flowers/plants. Examples were wild ginger, rattle snake hawk weed, leatherwood, moon seed, Solomon’s seal, False Solomon’s Seal and so on with characteristics of each plant. Boy did I learn a lot! It was amazing!!
